Extra clean materials

It is clear from Safina's history that the quality of our products has always been our top priority. The experience gained and the unique know-how in the processing and recycling of materials have guided us to the present day.

We are proud to present the results of our advanced precious metal processing technology, where achieving maximum quality and purity are key values that guide us every step of the way.

Uses and applications

Behind the motto Giving every grain a purpose” lies a wide world of chemical and physical metal processing techniques and our constant diligence to achieve more precise and cleaner layers. Cleaner and thinner layers not only save material, but also have a major impact on financial efficiency. The consequences are noticeable in the subsequent precision of sensors, transducers and semiconductor applications where the use of our products finds wide application. Clean materials then contribute to achieving higher efficiency of the components used.

By combining individual clean materials exactly according to customer specifications, we achieve layers with almost zero impurities. In this way, we make it easy to achieve the required metal/layer ratios for optimum performance of the sputtering process. Our manufacturing capabilities allow us to offer not only standard products, but to literally create products that are “tailor-made” to the customer’s specific application and formulation needs and requirements in exact form they are needed – targets, pellets and grains.

Composition

Thanks to years of refinement of metal recycling procedures, which take place in-house at our Safina plant, and the subsequent analyses carried out by GDMS (Glow Discharge Mass Spectrometry) in an external, independent and certified laboratory, we are able to guarantee the purity of our materials to a 5N level for Pt and Au and Pd with values up to 4N8. GDMS technology represents a powerful analytical method focused on mass spectrometry in a plasma generated by a low pressure discharge. This state-of-the-art technology allows us to identify and quantify elements in a material with amazing precision, reaching up to
0.005 ppm wt%. The accuracy of GDMS analysis is crucial to confirm the purity and quality of our products. In addition, the analysis can verify 74 different elements, including those more difficult to detect, up to atomic number 92, which represents Uranium, the last element in the range of naturally occurring elements. For the determination of the trace elements C, O, H and N, which cannot be detected by GDMS analysis, we are able to complement this analysis with the IGA (Inert Gas Analysis) method.
